Day 1 - Every Child Deserves a Chance to Thrive
Notes from Ghana: Learning, Connection, and Big Dreams
Welcome to our blog! We are so glad you’re here to follow along on this journey.
Vicki, our Managing Director of Forest Friends Childcare is currently in Ghana volunteering on a childcare project, working directly alongside incredible children, families, and local communities.
'Although I’ve spent years working in early childhood education and own a group of nurseries back in the UK, nothing could have fully prepared me for seeing first-hand the daily reality for many of these children. Yet, despite facing challenges that few of us can imagine, they are overflowing with joy, resilience, and boundless potential.' - Vicki
Why Ghana?
'I’ve always held a deep, core belief: where a child is born should never determine the opportunities they have in life.
Every child, no matter their circumstances, deserves access to the basics that so many of us take for granted—simple educational resources, proper school equipment, and the support needed to continue their education and thrive.
Seeing their eager smiles and drive to learn every day has been profoundly moving, and it’s a reminder of why early education matters so much globally.' - Vicki
"Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and flourish—no matter where in the world they start." - Vicki
Connecting Two Worlds
Over the next two weeks, Vicki be documenting this journey and sharing updates right here—not just with you, but with our nursery teams, children, and families back home in the UK.
While Vicki is in Ghana, our UK nurseries are diving into learning all about Ghanaian culture and the amazing children Vicki will have the privilege of meeting. It’s an incredible opportunity to build empathy, curiosity, and global awareness in our young learners back home, connecting two very different worlds through a shared love of learning
